The Institute of the Regions of Europe organised an online discussion (in German) on measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in Austria and Georgia. Furthermore, IRE is organising the first European conference on the theme of "Europe and Coronavirus: Dangers and Opportunities" during the 16th European Summit in Salzburg from 27 to 29 September 2020. Several topics will be discussed such as "Europe, Coronavirus and democracy: dangers and opportunities", "Will Coronavirus kill the Green Deal", "Medical research and pandemic".

The Salzburg Global Seminar is organising a webinar on "Rethinking the Urban Contract" which aims to launch a reflection on the post-pandemic city. Participants will explore both the design and sociocultural changes in design and architecture of the city as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
